The Yamaha MODX 7+ is the successor to the Yamaha MODX; a beautiful synthesizer workstation that offers you ultimate control over both the instrument and other instruments or DAWs, and is completely ram packed with the most amazing sounds. The 88-key hammer-style keyboard weighs 13.8 kg, making it easy to take with you for live performances and rehearsals. And especially with the accompanying bag (sold separately), you have the capabilities of a high-quality workstation anywhere you want.
All the sound!
The sound is wonderfully typical Yamaha, with the AWM2 engine for all sample-based sounds. Go from horns to strings, guitars, basses, flutes, organs to drums and so on. Yamaha's presets also include ready-made scenes with a large number of these instruments, allowing you to put together an entire orchestra with the greatest of ease. Ideal for the studio, for example. In addition, there is an FM engine with eight operators. Here the real synth freaks can pour their passion into it because every parameter of the synths can be adjusted and configured in the menu. Or choose an existing FM sound and tweak it to match exactly the sound you need.
Presets and scenes
A workstation with so many options can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially in a live situation. But Yamaha has come up with a solution for this with the MODX8+. Of course, in addition to the 250+ presets, you can also create your own presets with the sounds you often use. Is there a song where a CFX piano, a B3 organ and some strings are needed, then I simply place them in one preset and name it after the corresponding song. With the scene buttons I can then easily switch between different mixes in this preset. For example, scene one is just that piano (for e.g. the chorus), scene 2 is just the organ (for e.g. the bridge) and scene 3 is piano in the background the strings (for e.g. the outro). On the MODX you can create up to 8 different scenes per preset, and you have full control over how the scene sounds exactly.Even the squencer can be set per preset and per scene so that you can work out songs at home and on stage you only have to select the right scene.
Superknob
One of the great advantages of the MODX is the Superknob. This Superknob is already assigned per preset to one or more of the MODX's many parameters. So for convenience, it's as simple as choosing a preset and seeing what the Superknob does. But of course you can also link your own parameters to this Suberknob so that you control e.g. both the LFO and the reverb with one turn of the knob. This gives a fantastic amount of musical possibilities and increases the dynamic use of the MODXUSB and MIDI
The MODX is of course a workstation/synthesizer but also offers additional USB and MIDI functions for the studio, for example. For example, the MODX is its own audio interface. This is useful when the is your first or only device. So no external sound card is needed to send audio to the computer. Also, the MODX can be used as a MIDI controller in your DAW. A number of MIDI presets are already loaded into the MODX for different DAWs but you can also map the MODX all by yourself in your DAW if you like.
