The Yamaha HS5 is Bi-Amped, just like any other good monitor. Bi-amped means that the high and low tones are amplified separately. The HS5 is well tuned to the room thanks to the Room Control and High Trim functions.
With the HS5 45 watts go to the woofer and 25 watts to the high driver. If you add this together you come to 70 watts and this ensures enough headroom and clear mix settings
The beauty of the Yamaha studio monitors is that they have white woofers, this makes them special and so everyone can immediately see that you have a quality monitor in the house. This active studio monitor is relatively small, weighs 5 kilos, has a full sound and is designed for home studios and mobile setups to offer a neutral reproduction. This speaker is from the HS series, so you can be sure that there is a flat frequency response without a colored or boosted signal.
In short, this speaker is beautiful, compact and awfully good for this price range
