The Yamaha FC-4A is a spoon-shaped pedal that is generally used for sustain. The pedal is specially designed so that it feels equivalent to the right pedal of a real acoustic piano. If the pedal is connected to the Sustain jack, you can simulate the action of the sustain pedal of an acoustic piano on your digital piano or keyboard. Basically, the FC-4A can be connected to instruments of any brand and can be made to work at any time. The only advantage of an original pedal is that the polarity is always properly adjusted. With instruments from other brands there is a small chance that you have to change the polarity in the menu of your instrument.
