There is no denying the success of the Yamaha Clavinova pianos by now. Over the years Yamaha has been at the top of digital pianos with the Clavinovas as the hard core of this development. With the arrival of the CSP series, Yamaha has once again made history by creating a series that is sure to appeal to everyone. From someone who wants to control the piano to the hilt and get everything out of it, to the one who just wants to turn the piano on and not be bothered with all the fuss.
The CSP-295GP is the grand piano version of the CSP-295, the flagship of the CSP. This unique grand piano has one of the most powerful and purest speaker systems available in the world of digital pianos. Its elegant cabinet and sleek design would almost make you think it's an acoustic grand piano. Turn this grand piano on and you'll hear Yamaha's fantastic CFX grand piano model, ideal for anyone looking for a high-end piano without too many bells and whistles.
The CSP-295 is the flagship of the CSP series and has received a huge upgrade over the previous series. Its tall cabinet and sleek design would almost make you think it's an acoustic instrument. Turn the piano on and you'll hear Yamaha's fantastic CFX grand piano model, ideal for anyone just looking for a high-end piano without too many bells and whistles.
But connect the phone or tablet with the Smart Pianist App via Bluetooth or USB and a world of different sounds (voices), rhythms (styles) and the ability to customize almost every aspect of the piano itself will open up to you. It is also here that you will encounter the beautiful sound of the Bösendorfer alongside a host of other pianos.
It is even possible to learn to play your favorite tunes directly with the CSP-295 via the Stream Lights. The unique Stream Light system shows via LED indicators which notes to play at what time, while the score runs along directly on your screen.
The CSP-295 gives you the feel and sound of a real grand piano in an elegant and imposing piece of furniture that is almost indistinguishable from an acoustic piano. Whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced pianist, whether you just want a beautiful piano without fuss or, on the contrary, you want to be able to adjust and apply everything on the instrument, the CSP-295 will undoubtedly meet your expectations.
Grand Touch Keyboard
The CSP-295 features the Grand Touch keyboard with solid wood keys. This keyboard emulates a true grand piano keyboard similar to that of a Yamaha Grand Concert grand piano. This means that the fulcrum point of the key is further than that of a baby grand piano or upright just like a real Grand Concert piano. This allows you to incorporate dynamics and nuances into your playing with extreme precision at every position of the key. The 3 sensors used in the Grand Touch keyboard track all the nuances in your playing allowing you to play with beautiful dynamics and expression. Of course, the escapement mechanism of an acoustic keyboard was also included in the development of this piano.
CFX and Bösendorfer
The Clavinova CSP-295 grand piano sounds come from premium, hand-selected Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos that have been tuned to perfection by professional piano tuners. Only then were the sounds meticulously sampled in different positions, dynamics, and even with accompaniments, for a stunningly realistic grand piano sound with smooth tone changes perfectly matched to your piano playing. From staccato to legato, you get a beautifully expressive sound that responds beautifully to your touch. Featuring Yamaha Smooth Release technology, as well as Key-Off and String Resonance samples, the CSP-295 gives you realistic bright staccatos and luxurious legatos, for a nuanced response.
Spruce Speakers
Unique to the CPS-295 and CPS-295GP is the speaker system. Not only do these models naturally have the most elaborate speaker systems found in a Yamaha piano, the speakers themselves are also unique. In fact, a pulp of real spruce wood was used to make these speakers.
With an acoustic piano, much of the sound comes from the spruce soundboard used. The higher the quality of the spruce the more beautiful the piano sounds. They have now managed to incorporate this character of spruce into the CSP-295 and CSP-295GP by making the speakers from this same material. This innovative way of speaker construction gives the CSP-295 and CSP 295GP a huge edge when it comes to realistic piano sound.
Binaural sampling
Binaural samples have also been added for the CFX and the Bösendorfer. This means that during the sampling of the piano a binaural microphone is used at the position of the pianist. This microphone picks up sound in exactly the same way as our ears pick up sound. This means that when you use headphones with the CFX or the Bösendorfer you don't just hear a fantastic sample, but samples recorded just as you would hear it if you were actually sitting in the pianist's playing position. This gives an extra realism to playing with headphones that makes this no longer a concession, but rather a pleasure.
VRM
Virtual Resonance Modeling is the name for the technology Yamaha uses to mimic the resonance of the acoustic instrument. When you play the piano, the strings that are not being played will resonate with it. And the way they do depends on the touch and use of the pedals. In this Yamaha Clavinova CSP-295 digital piano, it even mimics the detailed sound the dampers make when taken off the strings.
Everything your heart desires
The big advantage of the CSP series is, of course, the use of the Smart Pianist app. This app allows you to control the piano and discover the hundreds of additional features the CSP has to offer.
For example, the first thing you can do is choose your piano. Do you like to play on a real Yamaha CFX? No problem. Do you prefer to play on a real Bösendorfer? Of course, then choose that one. There are hundreds of different sounds to choose and adjust to exactly what you need.
Piano room
Dive into the piano room and adjust the piano just the way you like it. With the grand pianos, for example, you can set the lid open, half open or closed. You can adjust the brightness of a piano, sensitivity of the key, increase or decrease samples such as VRM. It is even possible to choose what kind of room the piano is in:
- Recital Hall
- Concert Hall
- Cathedral
- Chamber
- Club
Should you have the knowledge and ambition, it is even possible here to tune the piano yourself. Every note can be individually tuned to give the piano a character you like.
Voices
For anyone familiar with Yamaha knows what we mean by "Voices". Voices are the different sounds in the piano. In the CSP-255 and -275, there are as many as 772 and in the CSP-295 and CSP-295GP as many as 872. Think about:
- Pianos
- Organs
- Guitar & Bass
- Strings and vocals
- Wind and wind instruments
- Percussion and drums
- Synths
Choose a double bass on the left hand and a Hammond organ on the right and play the stars from the sky. Or choose one of the beautiful pianos and get the other two voices to layer over it by turning it down slightly.
This feature of the CSP series allows the player, in combination with the styles, to play an entire band, or match your favorite songs to perfection.
Styles
Styles are accompaniment tracks that follow your playing and add what is needed. For example, a style always has a rhythm, bass and "others" that allow an entire band to play along with you. These three sections can also be individually turned on and off for even more flexibility and personalization in your playing. Choose one of hundreds of different styles clearly arranged into categories such as:
- Pop & Rock
- Soul & R&B
- Dance
- Country & Blues
- Standards & Jazz
- Entertainment
- Latin & World
Find the style that suits you, or fits the exact song you want to play and recreate the original. Styles also just make practicing a lot more enjoyable. No more boring metronome to practice your arpeggios, legato or staccato techniques, but a whole band playing along at your pace. Or turn the accompaniment all the way up to jam along with the band and let your creativity run wild within any genre.
Stream Lights
Yamaha's Stream Light system is a revolutionary feature in the CSP. Via the Smart pianist app, you choose one of the many songs ready for you. From classical to pop, from lessons to your own music library, the Stream Lights show you how to play the music. In addition to the sheet music appearing clearly on the tablet, the LED lights above the keys show you at the right tempo which key to play. If you are playing the song for the first time or are new to playing the piano, no problem! Just turn on the guide function and the Stream Lights will wait for you to press the correct key until it moves on to the next one. This guarantees that you can always practice at your own pace and level.
Do you like to practice a song that is not in the app? Then simply upload an audio file and the Smart Pianist app will analyze the audio and convert it into score for you to play through the Stream Lights.
This system also makes the CSP-295 an ideal system for beginning pianists or situations where multiple people, for example in the family, will use the piano at their own level. While one person plays the stars of heaven on just the Bösendorfer, the other has all the benefits of the Stream Lights at his or her own level.
Easy to connect
Connecting to external devices such as the tablet or phone is a piece of cake as we have seen with the Smart Pianist app. For midi (like the Smart Pianist app) we can use either Bluetooth or USB. When we use the USB connection, the CPS-295 will also charge your device. Always convenient!
But also audio can be played via Bluetooth to play along with your favorite songs directly from the studio recording or a live session. And with the powerful speaker system built into a CSP piano, the piano also functions as a Hi-Fi speaker.
In addition, of course, we have an Aux input, midi in, out and through and it is even possible to connect a dynamic microphone directly to the piano.
More than we can tell you here.
The possibilities with the CPS-295 are so immense that we cannot tell you all this in text. If you now want to know more about the CSP series please do not hesitate to contact us and stop by our store where there will always be a CSP piano ready for you to experience it yourself.
