The Yamaha CLP-775PE is a beautiful digital piano from the famous Clavinova series. When you sit down behind this piano, it is just like sitting behind an acoustic piano or grand piano. But with smart, modern gadgets!

The CLP775PE piano has received a new, improved 'GrandTouch' keyboard. The 88 keys of this digital piano give a very realistic playing feel: something that is often very difficult with electronic pianos. But with this piano, every touch and pin detail is accurately picked up and reproduced. The keys have a synthetic ivory top layer and the white keys are made of wood. In an acoustic piano, the keys do not have the same touch feel across the entire range, due to the thickness of the strings. This touch feel has been accurately recreated on the CLP-775PE. The lowest notes play a bit heavier, the higher notes play lighter. The so-called lifting point is a lot further forward so you feel an equal touch over the entire length of each key. In short: it plays a little lighter and you have more room for expression - you can dive more "into" the keyboard, so to speak. This technique is also called the escapement mechanism.

Really real

The CLP775PE has two beautiful piano samples on board from the world's most famous pianos: namely, the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. Both of these grand pianos have been recorded and sampled using modern techniques. By combining these samples with the Grand Acoustic Imaging technique, you really hear the authentic sound of these grand pianos. Because of the quality of the keyboard, speakers, amplifier and acoustic design of the cabinet, even the smallest details are audible, such as sounds from the pedals and the resonance of the strings. Both the CFX & Bösendorfer grand pianos are binaurally sampled, which means that even on headphones you will experience a beautiful spacious sound. Playing with headphones can sometimes be a bit tiring for your ears because the sound is very direct: you do not have that problem with the CLP-775PE, because even through headphones the sound is spatial and not "oppressive"

A classic

A nice sound addition in the CLP-775 is the so-called Mozart Piano recorded. This fortepiano was originally made by Walter (Viennese piano builder). There is also a Chopin Piano, originally made by French piano builder Weyel. Like the CFX and the Bösendorfer, the fortepianos sound unprecedentedly good. So it's kind of nice to have two famous fortepianos at your disposal when playing music from the 18th and 19th centuries. The menu you use to control the piano is on the left side of the piano. No ugly push buttons ruining the classic design, but a sleek and flat surface with luminous touch sensors. When the menu is active you can clearly see the LED lights, but if you don't touch the touch sensors for a while they turn off automatically. The control menu is in English and very clear

Modern functions

The piano is full of useful features for the modern pianist, such as Bluetooth connectivity (audio and MIDI), recording capability, nice spatial effects and an equalizer. You can also connect the piano to your computer (via USB or Bluetooth). There are also two headphone outputs. It is even possible to connect your own audio source to the input of the piano. With the SmartPianist App you can get even more fun features out of your Clavinova. It gives you access to great play-alongs, both classical and modern. You can also load music from your iTunes playlist. The app then analyzes the chords and tempo and knows how to convert that into a clear chord progression within seconds. And it can also be done the other way around; so you play something through the piano while the app converts it into musical notation. Handy if you compose or arrange regularly. As you can see, the CLP-775 is a beautiful-sounding piano with very modern features.
