Vic Firth drumstick pair with barrel tip from the American Custom Maple Series. Relative to hickory sticks, maple sticks are somewhat lighter in weight (lower density) which allows for a refined playability, bounce and balance. In addition, maple has a different "wear behavior"; due to its texture, the wood has the property of "chipping" or splintering and typically breaks less quickly along the entire length of the stick.
