Tokai is a company with a rich history. The Japanese guitar company has been around since the 1950s but really became known worldwide in the early 1980s. At the time, the Japanese company's guitars were immensely popular due to the dip that both Fender and Gibson were experiencing; people started looking for alternatives from the likes of Ibanez, Yamaha and...Tokai.
For years there was no import into Europe of Tokai and the guitars were off the radar for a long time, causing the brand to fade further into the background and at the same time -among enthusiasts- gaining cult status. The "better than the original" image has stayed with many guitarists and passed on to the younger generations and we are pleased to offer a large collection of both the affordable Chinese and the professional Japanese collection.
This China-built UTJ64 is an affordable alternative to the well-known American Gibson Junior. Initially, this Junior was called a Les Paul but after 3 years it definitely became Junior. No binding, no carved top, one pickup, one volume knob and one tone knob. A no-nonsense rocker!
