The special 'fingertight grip' is made to make the tuning process of drums a lot easier.
If you tighten all the tensionbolts using the red part of this key, you'll reach a point of 'fingertight' tension on all points of the head. That way you can make sure the tension is pretty much the same across the entire drum. From there on, you can conveniently tighten/tune the drumhead step by step to your liking.
A very useful tool for both the beginning and experienced drummer!
