The Korean company Sire has made a lot of fame in a short time. And not just because they have managed to get none other than Marcus Miller inseparably attached to them. That's nice, but if the instruments weren't up to par, also inconsequential. And that's precisely where sire "nailed it"; these basses are awesome! At this price point, really a no-brainer. The sound is bold and very recognizable; a treat for lovers of traditional J and P sounds, but at the same time the active basses are modern and very versatile. The design choices (color choice, shape of the headstock) are just that little bit different and the finish is excellent. Within the V7 series there is a lot of choice and diversity. One thing all V7s have in common is the active pre-amp that Sire developed together with Marcus Miller.
This V7 is a 4-string J-style bass with an alder body, maple neck and ebony fingerboard with the rolled edges that make every Sire so comfortable to play. The pickups are placed according to 60's era; the bridge element is just a bit further away from the bridge than on the V7 Vintage variant, which has the typical 70's placement of the bridge element (closer to the bridge). Furthermore, the V7 is also available with alder body and ebony fingerboard and in a wide range of colors! Another great feature that we see on all Sire basses is that the strings can be mounted both body through and bridge through (or go crazy and mix it up!); try that and see what it does for the sound.
The bass comes without a gig bag or case.
