The Sequential Pro 3 is a hybrid, multi-filter synthesizer. The synth has a 37-note semi-weighted keyboard (made by Fatar), three oscillators (two VCOs and a wavetable) and three classic analog filters (Prophet-6, OB-6, and ladder). Along with a powerful new 16-track sequencer and the ability to connect to modular synths via the four control voltage ins and outs, this is a synth with extensive features!
The Pro 3 has not one, not two, but three classic filter types. Additional features include three LFOs, four envelopes, an arpeggiator, a generator for white noise, hard sync, Glide per oscillator, Oscillator Slop, dual digital effects and much more. The Pro 3 even has a 3-voice paraphonic mode with individually activated envelopes per oscillator - meaning you can play triads on a monosynth! A 32-slot mod matrix and dual digital effects plus tuned feedback and analog distortion make the Sequential Pro 3 a little beast that can produce almost any sound you can think of.

3 powerful oscillators
The synth magic begins with three oscillators - two analog VCOs and a digital wavetable. The analog oscillators generate three classic waveforms, triangle, saw and pulse; each with variable shape modulation/pulse width. The DSP-based digital oscillator produces 32 wave tables of 16 waves each with wave morphing, plus classic sine, triangle, saw, variable-width pulse and super saw waveforms. In addition, digital oscillator 3 can act as an LFO for complex modulation based on wavetables. A fourth sound source - a generator of white noise - can be accessed through the Mixer section to add variable grain to any patch.
3 Classic Analog Filters
The Sequential Pro 3 is a unique synth, but what really sets it apart are its three classic analog filters. The Pro 3's filter section consists of the best VCF filters from half a century of analog synthesis and includes a 4-pole, 24dB/octave lowpass filter from the Prophet-6; a classic 4-pole, 24dB/octave, transistor ladder filter with variable resonance; and a 2-pole, 12db/octave state-variable OB-6 filter that can be continuously varied between lowpass, notch and highpass operation, with an optional bandpass mode. FAT!
LFOs, envelopes, feedback and distortion
The Pro 3 has three synchronizable LFOs, each with five waveforms (triangle, saw, reverse saw, square and S&H), plus phase shift and slew rate. There are four ADSR Envelopes (VCA, Filter and two Auxiliary). Envelopes are freely assignable to multiple modulation destinations and they can repeat/run. If you need sonic aggression, reach for the Tuned Feedback generator with Grunge. To go tonally loose, turn up the Pro's programmable analog distortion. Growl!
The Mod Matrix
Whatever sound you can dream up, you can make it a reality with the Sequential Pro 3. The modulation matrix adds advanced modular synthesis capabilities to the real-time, hands-on immediacy of this thick performance synth. The Pro 3's 32-slot modulation matrix has more than 46 modulation sources and more than 171 destinations. Modulation assignment knobs let you route modulation quickly and easily, while the Amount encoder lets you set the ideal mix.
CV I/O and Gate Out
The Pro 3 is equipped with four CV inputs and outputs for interfacing with modular synths and other CV-compatible devices. Parameters that can be sent to CV outputs are oscillators, LFOs, envelopes, sequencer tracks or any other source within the modulation matrix. Sequential has also equipped the Pro 3 with a Gate Out for triggering external CV-compatible devices. Any CV input can be used as a gate input.
16-track sequencer
The sequencer brings state-of-the-art composition and sound design processes to the Pro 3. The Sequencer has three modes: normal, gated and trigger. With 16 tracks and 4 linkable 16-step phrases, the Sequencer features ratcheting, duration and speed per step, as well as forward, reverse, forward/backward and random playback modes. It supports real-time and step input, rest and variable-length sequences, and synchronizes with MIDI clock or external audio, as well as CV input. Sequences can be freely assigned to any modulation destination.
Great value formoney
Sequential has put a lot of synth features into the Pro 3. The Pro 3 is just as at home on stage as it is in the studio. It offers 512 presets and 512 users plus instant, real-time control that lets you quickly capture your sounds during a live performance, yet extensive sound-sculpting capabilities that serious sound designers and composers need. On stage, you'll appreciate the Playlist mode that generates set lists from your favorite presets. And so will the smooth, precise response of the Pro 3's illuminated Pitch and Mod wheels, which are highly visible in low-light situations. Another feature we really love here at Klundert Music is that the upper and lower pitch ranges of the Pitch wheel can be adjusted independently. There is also a lockable, position-sensitive touch slider on the left cheek for enhanced interactivity and control.
The Sequential Pro 3 is a great investment. If you're a serious synthesist, you need one!
Synth legend
Dave Smith was the designer and driving force behind the original Sequential Circuits, whose first product was the legendary Prophet 5 in 1977 - the first polyphonic synthesizer that could store the value of every parameter within its voicing and control systems. This was a technological breakthrough and the implications were staggering. Consider this: before the Prophet 5, it was simply not possible to enter a patch number into a synthesizer and recall sounds you had stored. The Prophet 5 and its successors were hugely successful, finding their way into the keyboard rigs of every top studio and major act, and into countless recordings by artists as diverse as Madonna and Weather Report! But Dave Smith's impressive track record would not be complete without a mention of the important role he played in the development of MIDI. Today, Sequential is back at it again with cutting-edge synthesizers that incorporate the very best of vintage and modern technologies. Klundert Music is proud to offer such a fine line of distinguished musical instruments!
