The Sennheiser MKE 600 is a condenser shotgun microphone. It has a high directivity that allows it to pick up sound from the direction the camera is pointing and effectively muffles sounds coming from the side and back. The microphone runs on 48V phantom power, but since not all cameras can supply this power, it also runs on a1.5V AA battery.
With a frequency response emphasized for speech, the MKE 600 is production-ready without the need to fiddle with external EQ and cleanup in the edit. Sennheiser has built in a basic 40Hz low-cut filter that can be switched to 100Hz to ensure vocal intelligibility. Combined with the MKE 600's windshield, which attenuates unwanted noise by up to 25dB, your recordings will no longer be ruined by intrusive noise.
