The Radial ProD8 is a 19-inch, 8-channel direct box specifically designed to connect e.g. keyboards and pre-recorded backing tracks to a PA system, I/O rack or mixing console. The DI has redundant inputs for live performance backup. The ProD8's inputs feature two A-B 1/4" inputs per DI channel for main and backup sources, pass-through for personal monitoring and an effects loop that allows both A-B sources to share the same effects for each channel. On the rear output are an XLR connector, -15dB input pad selector and ground elevator witch. A 180-degree polarity reversal switch is internally mounted and factory set with pin 2 hot.
The Radial Pro D8 is passive (so no phantom power is needed) and uses eight custom wound, radial transformers that are linear from 20Hz to 18kHz. They are capable of withstanding highly dynamic levels from sources such as digital samplers, synths and drum machines without clipping. To reduce interference from external magnetic fields, the transformers are equipped with mu-metal shielding, reducing phase distortion to an absolute minimum.
There handy is the reversible set of rack ears, which allows you to place the 1/4" input panel or the XLR output panels on the front or rear, depending on the system engineer's preference.
Custom transformer
The Radial ProD8 is equipped with custom audio transformers, which provide exceptional signal processing without saturation. More importantly, these custom transformers of the ProD8 have extremely low phase distortion in the critical bass and midrange areas. The ProD8's transformer provides 100% isolation to eliminate hum and noise that cause ground loops. Inside the ProD8 you'll find neat insulated XLR connectors to eliminate chassis ground potential and rock-solid, high-quality circuit board (with a full ground plane) to reduce sensitivity to RF noise. User-friendly
One fine feature of the ProD8 is its plug-and-play ease of use. All you have to do is connect the instrument to the 1/4" inputs, the 1/4" through jacks to the stage amp(s) or mixer and the XLR outputs to the mixer and you're done. Distortion? Use the -15dB pad. Noise? Hit the ground elevator switch. You'll find that for acoustic guitars and basses, the natural tone of the instrument is carried through cleanly for clear and musical reproduction. For electric instruments, such as synths, modules and keyboards, the ProD8 instantly eliminates troublesome ground loops while delivering solid dynamics with a full and rich sound.
