Pioneer DJ's PLX-CRSS12 turntable features a direct-drive design, but the flexibility offered in how you handle your sound goes much further. The company's new Magvel Clamp controls how tightly the vinyl is secured when you put the tone arm away with the DVS. This not only means the needle no longer skips no matter how aggressively you scratch, but you can also tune the "weight" of your scratching experience to feel lighter or heavier, all without the hassle of slip mats, slip sheets or other mechanical components. The vibrant high-contrast OLED screen provides visibility in low light and gives important information without cluttering your space, including tempo range and key signature when step-pitching in analog or DVS mode. Meanwhile, other details such as bpm, deck number and software keep your DVS experience sympathetic.

Versatile performance potential

To expand the PLX-CRSS12 turntable's performance capabilities, Pioneer DJ has added four color-coded pads under the platter, each of which is fully MIDI-tapable. In addition, the shift function doubles the possibilities for your pads, giving you eight fully customizable options. Onboard compatibility includes rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro, each of which has a separate set of native pad support functions. With rekordbox, Hot Cue, Sampler, Track Separation, Sample Scratch, Pad FX1 and Beat Jump functions are ready to use, while Serato DJ Pro supports Hot Cue, Sampler, Voice, Scratch Bank, Roll and Saved Loop options. No matter what path you take, the PLX-CRSS12 expertly balances contemporary flexibility and performance without compromising the basic needs of the turntable. Even the turntable's braking functions are adjustable, thanks to a front-mounted switch with three stop speeds, increasing performance options at every level.

Designed for premium aural integrity

A spiritual successor to the PLX-1000, the PLX-CRSS12 builds on the acclaimed aural architecture of its predecessor, retaining its best facets while making some welcome improvements. The chassis consists of a durable upper section of high-mass cast zinc and a lower section of 8-millimeter-thick resin that optimizes structural integrity and dampens vibrations. In addition, rubber tubes in the tone arm provide significantly better vibration control, increasing performance and consistency. RCA connections use machined gold-plated components, while the phono signal uses a stable connection to the plug for direct transmission of high-fidelity audio to faithfully reproduce the nuances of analog records. Even the switching power supply plays a role by eliminating flux leakage and transformer vibration to further suppress interfering noise for crystal-clear audio reproduction.
