As a proud and fanatical Ormsby dealer from the very beginning, we thought it was high time for something special. That's why we had this one-off and very limited edition Goliath made as a custom run at our request. Mainly because; HOW IS IT, THAT THE GOLIATH -as most popular model of Ormsby- HAS NOT YET BEEN AVAILABLE IN HISTORY BEFORE IN A DRAGONBURST FINISH?!
Well, you're welcome; settled! Do note however; there are only 20 of these worldwide in a mix of 6, 7 and 8-string versions and we have this model exclusively as a dealer for Europe. What an honor!
The Goliath is Ormsby's headless flagship-model. With a more dramatic multiscale fan than any headless on the market (from 25.5" to respectively 27.5" (6-string), 27.8" (7-string) or 28.3" (8-string)), the Goliath performs exceptionally in terms of aggressive tone, definition, tightness and punch. Those low drop tunings hold up better and sound more brutal than ever. With its compact design and light weight, the Goliath is also a very comfortable guitar to play and ergonomic issues such as neck-dive is practically unthinkable.
That does not mean that this guitar loses anything in terms of tone, by the way. The combination of a mahogany body (finished with a beautiful flamed maple veneer), maple neck and ebony fretboard results in a fat, punchy tone from the body with a fierce attack from the hard, dense ebony wood. The pickups are a combination of Ormsby's custom design Hot Rock bridge pickup and PVH (Perry's Vintage Humbucker) neck pickup that gives the razor-sharp edge of the already very modern-sounding guitar somewhat of a classic touch. The 5-position superswitch selects the two humbuckers in the traditional Les Paul-style 3-position combination, and in addition, positions 2 and 4 give a coil tap mode for each of the humbuckers.
The bridge is -as usual with the Goliath- the custom Hipshot headless bridge with tuners on the back of the body combined with the custom Ormsby locking nut. Included is an Ormsby gig bag.
