The relaunch of this Neumann U47 fet gives you the opportunity to get a legendary, vintage sound from the 70s. This U 47 FET "Collectors Edition" has a kidney characteristic, a -6/10 dB PAD filter and a Low-Cut. The microphone comes in a beautiful wooden case and certificate (and of course the instruction manual).
This is a microphone with character and a specific sound. This re-issue version was originally designed as a replacement for the U47 Tube (the original U47 was with tubes).
The microphone is mainly used as a studio microphone for vocals. It gives a real vintage, warm sound with a nice high (peak around 7-8 kHz). This microphone sounds great thanks to a clear proximity effect. That's why even kick drums sound great with this mic (tip!). Watch the video below of our studio specialist Dennis and listen to his experience with this very special microphone.
This U47FET is equipped with a famous K47 capsule. This capsule is made of Mylar with a thickness of 6 micrometers. This diaphragm has a diameter of 34 mm (large diaphragm). He equipped with a BV8 output transformer, as we know from the U67. However, with different windings and therefore a slightly different sound. The capsule is accurately suspended in a shockmount which limits any mechanical handling noise. Unlike its predecessor, the U47 Tubes, the U47 FET has no external power supply and thus operates on 48V phantom power.
Please note; this microphone requires a powerful microphone preamp (up to 40 to 50 dB gain). We also recommend a stable 48V phantom power supply.
