The Neumann KK13 is electret condenser capsule for the Neumann MCM 114 system. The item is available separately as you could e.g. put together your own MCM system. Or maybe your current KK 13 microphone capsule has broken down? Then you can get it separately. A KK13 module mounts on a SH gooseneck (not included in delivery).
The Neumann KK 13 Capsule is thus part of the modular Miniature Clip Mic (MCM) system, designed for universal close-miking applications such as solo instrumentalists, big band and brass sections, and amplified orchestras in live applications. The KK 13 delivers a maximum SPL of 153 dB to capture the details of both loud and very soft instruments without adding distortion or proprietary noise. This omnidirectional capsule is capable of capturing a very complete soundstage of your instrument at a very short distance. The KK 13 is encapsulated in a lightweight titanium housing to ensure stability and longevity on the road. Hand-assembled in Germany to meet high Neumann standards, the capsule delivers first-class sound consistency plus Neumann aesthetics and handling.
KK13 Omni capsule with exceptional SPL handling & ultra-wide dynamic range
The KK 13 features a 12mm diameter (small diaphragm) electret-condenser element that delivers a truly natural, neutral and reliable sound - even in challenging technical or acoustic situations. The capsule has an omni polar pattern and gives a very natural response. The KK 13 provides a particularly open sound on quiet stages and in recording scenarios, where feedback and isolation need not be considered. The KK 13 omnicapsule - like the cardioid KK 14 - offers not only a very open sound but also a beautifully balanced frequency response, which means that both can be combined without interrupting the sound image. Apart from their directional pattern, both capsules offer the same excellent quality. With their huge dynamic range, they cover the entire spectrum, from very soft nuances to the loudest fortissimo, without audible noise or distortion.
Wide variety of mounting options
The miniature capsule can be easily mounted on an SH MCM gooseneck (sold separately) so that it can be placed reliably and accurately over your instrument for optimal sound recording. Nine instrument-specific mounting clips are available to attach the gooseneck to a wide range of instruments, including guitar, violin, cello, double bass, piano, drums, brass, woodwinds, and more.
Flexible connectivity for wired and wireless applications
Because it uses electret-condenser technology, the KK 13 can operate on +48V phantom power from a traditional microphone preamp or on plug-in power from a compatible wireless transmitter. With its 3.5mm jack, the AC 31 cable (sold separately) can be used to connect the KK 13 to the MCM 100 output stage module (sold separately) to connect the microphone to a mixing console via XLR. The AC 31 cable can also be used to connect the capsule to a wireless transmitter,
Neumann offers three other cables that work with other popular wireless transmitters including Lectrosonics, Shure, Zaxcom, Wisycom, and others.
