The MXR M306 Poly Blue Octave brings together modern and classic pitch-shifting with fuzz and modulation effects. You may recognize the original used by Jimmy Page on Led Zeppelin's song "Fool in the Rain." This iconic sound is captured in this pedal along with many other sounds.
This pitch-shifter is very complete, with octave divisions of: -1, -2, +1 and +2. Each octave gives the dry signal a separate volume control so the sound can be blended in many ways. Each division defaults to polyphonic mode so chords also come out nicely. For a more old-school sound and playing experience, you can also choose mono mode.
In addition to pitch-shifting capabilities, this pedal also includes a wild fuzz. This fuzz is based on the MXR Blue Box Fuzz. With this fuzz, the low notes sound extra good and you can give the higher notes a synth-like sound. The modulation varies by mode, for example, in polyphonic setting you get a Leslie-style effect while in mono you get a sound similar to a Phase 90.
