Fun fact; this snare was marketed in 1963 primarily as a student/practice snare due to its dry and cracking sound. Soon, however, the sound of this snare was widely embraced and it has since become one of the most widely used snaredrums for studio performance.
The 1.6 mm thick seamless shell of this snare is made of beaded aluminum and with a 5" depth measurement, the snare is not only dry but also fresh and snappy. With its matte shell and blue / olive batch it has a very recognizable and cool appearance...not unimportant!
This latest C10 version of the Acrolite no longer has 8, but 10 lugs
