The Black Beauty is made from a single sheet of brass that is machine drawn into a seamless shell. Due to the precision required in the process, this is a unique, complex and very time-consuming manufacturing process and therefor, this snare drum is only manufactured by Ludwig in small numbers. As a result, each Black Beauty is made with the utmost care and partly by hand in Monroe and they are scarce on today's market.
There are quite a few different versions of the Black Beauty available nowadays, but the LB417, 14x6.5" with imperial lugs is -alongside its 5.5" brother- an ultimate classic and the professional standard. A snaredrum that deserves a spot in every drummers' collection for sure!
