Featuring the same dual-oscillator DSP synthesis engine as Korg's acclaimed MS2000, the microKORG offers a wider selection of waveforms than almost any other modeled synthesizer. In addition, 64 exclusive DWGS waveforms from Korg's classic DW-8000 synthesizer allow you to reproduce a wide collection of imitative sounds traditionally difficult to reproduce on an analog synthesizer with the microKORG.
Semi-transparent 'skeleton' chassis
Although unchanged in the basics, the microKORG Crystal offers a new take on the structure of the microKORG, with a semi-transparent chassis that allows you to see the electronics on the inside. Even the controllers are semi-transparent, including the buttons and wheels. As a commemorative model, the microKORG Crystal is inviting to look at from any angle and - as the name suggests - "crystallizes" the energy and feeling of the KORG team behind conception of this synth.
The microKORG Crystal comes with a special carrying case made of transparent vinyl, which showcases the equally transparent microKORG Crystal body. This allows you to display your microKORG both on and off stage.
8-band vocoder
The Korg microKORG Crystal also includes an 8-band vocoder with many advanced features. With the microKORG you can capture and "freeze" the formants of your voice and then play them back over the keyboard, or shift the formant frequency to make your voice sound masculine, feminine, like a child or just goofy! Best of all, the microKORG synthesizer and vocoder comes with its own microphone, so you can have fun right away. Combine all this with four filter modes, three types of modulation effects (chorus/flanger, phaser, ensemble), three types of delay effects (stereo, cross, L/R) and a two-band EQ and you have all the tools you need to create driving leads that cut through your mix or lush pads that take your audience to synthesis heaven.
Flexible presets and audio inputs
To get you started, Korg has included 128 great-sounding presets for a wide range of the latest musical styles in the microKORG. There are two external audio inputs so you can run other instruments, audio and more through the microKORG's filter and effects for even more creative possibilities.
Compact and portable
For the musician on the go, the microKORG mini-keyboard has 37 velocity-sensitive keys, MIDI in/out and thru and can run on power or 6 AA batteries. All parameters are located on the panel for easy access to each function, and a large rotary knob and LED-lit buttons make for easy program selection even on a dark stage, making the microKORG great for live shows.
