The Studiotone from the Dutch company Koch has become a modern classic. In the late 90's and early 2000's, Koch was the absolute founder of the compact tube amplifiers, on which all the well-known micro/mego/super-terror/train's were based. The concept of the Studiotone is and remains unique, because Koch deliberately chose not to make any concessions regarding quality and functionality of this little powerhouse.
As with all Koch products, the Studiotone is never meant to be a budget amplifier that is loudly announced on the market. The Studiotone is meant for the professional guitarist who, with his guitar on his back and the Studiotone in his hand, can hop from job to job and do everything with that one amp. The Studiotone is a full tube amp based on a Class-A EL84 output stage of about 25 watts. The pre-amp has 3 channels (clean, OD and OD+) which share a three-band EQ. For the OD+ the intensity of the distortion can be adjusted separately and for extra voicing possibilities, the Studiotone is provided with mid-boost and bright switches. The amp also features a spring reverb and the speaker is a Koch custom design VG12-60 speaker.
At the back we find the real added value with all possibilities to connect different speaker cabinets, an extensive recording / direct out section for recording applications and an effects loop (serial). The Studiotone is truly a Swiss army knife among tube amps, which will serve you perfectly, both live and for (home)recording.
