What a ridiculously beautiful guitar, this 1965 Custom Shop Strat! As a limited edition, Fender brings you this reissue model of a unique and exclusive version of a 1965 Strat; Sage Green with gold hardware was originally a very rare color and finish.
Not only does it look phenomenal, but Fender has gone all the way in terms of finish details and specific electronics. This Strat is tasteful, exudes luxury, but is equally bursting with mojo and rock 'n roll!
We are happy to go over the details;
Basically, this is a Stratocaster with a 2-piece Alder body, quarter-sawn maple neck with a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard. The neck is nice and chunky and has a solid 1965 C-style profile with a fingerboard radius of 9.5". The beautiful Sage Green finish is lightly aged with a Journeyman Relic finish; you'll find subtle craquelé all over the body with minor "dings & wear" here and there. The 3-ply black pickguard, gold hardware and pearl dot inlay really complete the picture. For hardware, this Strat is fitter with the classic Fender vintage-style tremolo and vintage Kluson-style tuners.
The pickups are a trio of Fender Custom Shop's hand-wound Dual Mag II single coils with a classic 5-position switch. With the "Vintage Modified #2" wiring, the neck and middle pickups are wired to a tone-control and the bridge pickup has its own tone control. In addition, the circuit features a Tone-Saver treble bleed.
This Strat sounds very FAT. Fat in the sense of, loud, round and rich. The Dual Mag pickups give a high output and therefore this is perhaps not the creamiest Strat, but in return you get an unprecedented dynamic range with a vintage character. A feast for the eye, but foremost, for the ear!
Of course, this exclusive Custom Shop including case, documentation and accessories.
