This Limited '59 Precision Bass Special Relic, part of the now shipping 2023 Fender Custom Shop collection, features a Precision Bass body with a thin, comfortable jazz bass neck; a combination that Fender created in the early 1970s. In other words, it is the most functional hybrid combining the best of two iconic Fender electric bass guitar designs. The two-piece body is made of carefully selected ash and the quarter-sawn maple neck has a chunky 1960s-style "U" profile with a laminated maple fingerboard (no skunkstripe).
And when you thought the best of both worlds couldn't be combined in one bass; think again. This Custom Shop rumbles like a P and pops like a J and is truly in balance with both sounds. And that comfort of a slim Jazz Bass neck is really nice!
The P-Bass pickup is a hand wound Custom Shop '57 Precision Bass split coil, the J-Bass pickup is a hand wound Custom Shop Vintage Jazz Bass bridge pickup. A separate volume control is provided for both pickups to mix to your personal taste, just like the Jazz Bass concept.
With its beautiful Relic 3-color chocolate sunburst finish and gold anodized pickguard, this bass has an awesome authentic look.
The fingerboard has a 7.25-inch radius and the neck features 20 medium-jumbo frets (6105). The bridge is a Custom Shop HiMass RSD (Research Special Design) which provides a deep sound and stability. The bass of course comes with a deluxe case, certificate, custom shop floortraveller and original accessories.
