The Expressive E Osmosis is a 49-key synthesizer whose sound engine is powered by the powerful EaganMatrix, a digital modular engine developed by Haken Audio. More than 500 different presets, stunning onboard FX and in-depth editing features are just a small sample of its capabilities. What makes the Osmosis so unique in its synthesizer technology, however, is the polyphonic aftertouch, which allows you to control each key three-dimensionally across multiple axes. You can even apply it via extended MIDI controls for MPE use with your DAW or device of choice. This allows you to take composition capabilities to the extreme.
Three dimensions of playing
Unlike other keyboards that support MPE, Osmosis has the standard action and feel of a conventional MIDI controller or keyboard. MPE - or MIDI Polyphonic Expression - is a MIDI protocol that gives notes independent channels, making it possible to apply pitch bend, modulation or other expressive control messages to each individual note. Each key has a greater range of movement from its usual resting point, allowing you to continue expression through an assigned value. The same goes for the Y axis of each key, allowing additional modulation per note, whose range and target parameters can be adjusted with each patch and sound. Aftertouch and response curves can be adjusted for later use, with each of the advanced EganMatrix onboard sounds tailored for use with the Osmosis' unique expressive controls. In addition, the keyboard can be used as an MPE MIDI controller, armed with multichannel MIDI that takes each sound to a new dimension of playing, onboard or otherwise.

In Control
Osmosis' sleek, minimalist aesthetic is a welcome contrast to its immense sound quality. Controls consist of a handful of ergonomically designed and positioned backlit and textured, clickable buttons. These encircle a full-color LCD screen, while pitch and modulation sliders are conveniently placed nearby. The streamlined layout offers intuitive navigation and editing of each patch, including effects, key sensitivity, velocity curves, expressivity and envelope/EQ values, all with plenty of room to store your presets for later. Osmosis also has two ports for continuous pedal use, assignable to sustain or whatever synth parameter you choose, adding an extra dimension of expression to all 24 voices.
Integration
Armed with DIN MIDI in, out and thru ports, Osmosis is a highly capable controller. Connect this multidimensional controller to your favorite DAW. Multi-channel MIDI lets you explore your favorite sounds like never before. Two 1/4-inch TS line outputs can handle full stereo playback, while a 1/4-inch TRS headphone jack is mounted on the front for convenient solo playing with its own volume control. The thoughtful design also includes a lockable jack for the external power supply. While Osmosis is an incredibly capable synth with an almost unlimited depth of onboard control, Haken Audio's companion EaganMatrix editing software lets you delve even further into the unexplored depths of its unique synthesis architecture, creating and fine-tuning sounds to perfectly match your output.
