The guitars of D'angelico are inspiring in every way. In the first place they are beautiful to look at, but next to that D'Angelico guitars live up to all expectations with regard to sound and build quality.
The New York based guitar company has a rich history and is famous for their iconic jazz boxes. However, the current collection of D'angelico offers a wide collection of cool solid body, ES-style and off-set guitars as well.
The Excell Mini DC is D'angelico's top-of-the-line double cut, 14" center block / semi-hollowbody. In other words; an ES type according to classic recipe, but very well done. ES-339 to be exact, so a relatively small-size for a hollowbody.
The versatility of these guitars keeps surprising us. The Excel DC is an perfect example of this, a guitar with which you could pretty much play any style. The DC lays down a solid foundation of guitar sound in any situation that is just different from all other traditional and iconic guitar models.
Compared to the regular DC, this Mini DC is just a bit brighter and pointier as its body is simply more solid and less airy. The body is made of laminated maple with a laminated maple top. The maple set neck has an ebony fingerboard with 16" radius, Grover Super Rotomatic tuners and the guitar has a 24.75" radius. The pickups are a set of 59's from Seymour Duncan with coil splits on the tone pots. The high gloss black finish with gold hardware and the red accent of the pickguard is a perfect match for the sophisticated look that D'angelico carries out!
This guitar comes complete with original case.
