Meet the Bourgeois Touchstone series, a collection of hand-built guitars designed by icon, Dana Bourgeois. These guitars are crafted with Bourgeois' signature attention to detail, bringing his legendary sound and craftsmanship to more players than ever before.
Drawing on his half-century of experience as a luthier, Dana and his team carefully select Alaskan Sitka Spruce for the tops and Adirondack Spruce for the bracings, deep from the northern woods of Maine.
The Touchstone series is a very close collaboration between Bourgeois Guitars and Eastman Music Company. After the Touchstone tops are prepared by Dana, they are vacuum-sealed and shipped to Eastman's workshop, where a select group of Eastman's luthiers -carefully trained by Dana Bourgious himself in tonal philosophy and construction methodology- integrate the tops into Dana's designs and bring each guitar to life.
Within the Touchstone series, you'll find the Vintage and Country Boy guitars, each in a D (dreadnought) and OM version. The difference is as obvious as it is logical; the Vintage guitars have rosewood sides and back, the Country Boy's are made with mahogany sides and back. And yes, that smacks of the familiar recipes of the iconic 18 and 28 style guitars. Nothing could be further from the truth, then; no need to reinvent the wheel two centuries after the fact. However, Bourgeois and Eastman as a collective do attempt the very best version here.
AND HOW. You don't have to be a purist to hear at the first chord that this Vintage D is out-of-this-world well-built and with the best possible materials in the price range. My goodness.
The first thing you notice is the volume. This dreadnought can be incredibly LOUD...but more importantly; perfectly balanced. The low is fat, the top-high clear and the guitar has tremendous articulation. As a result, the dynamic range is unprecedented and unlimited. The guitar likes it all; whether you play hard or soft, small or big, chords or fingerstyle, it all holds up.
The Bourgeois and Eastman collaboration is proving to be a brilliant move. The result is the ultimate blend of exceptional quality at an exceptional price. The Touchstone guitars can rightly be called true hi-end-players guitars and leave many of the established players perhaps very far behind.
The guitar comes complete with hard case and certificate.
