The Roland RE-2 Space Echo brings the authentic sound and behavior of the Space Echo into a compact pedal. The RE-2 delivers the magic of the legendary RE-201, introduced in 1974, but with pedalboard-friendly dimensions.
Equipped with three evenly spaced tape heads and a spring reverb tank, this pedal can produce all kinds of sounds. From clean, single delays to dense, rhythmic echoes and ambient washes.
The 11-position mode switch lets you select different virtual tape heads with or without spring reverb, and the echo/reverb mix is balanced with independent level controls. The behavior of the original RE-201 is fully mimicked. Think here of the gradual pitch change when you adjust the Repeat Rate, the cool runaway feedback when you turn up the Intenstity knob to the max, and the Wow & Flutter control that lets you recall all the natural modulation characteristics.
Despite looking closely at the past, this pedal is totally ready for the future. With a doubled delay time, tap tempo control and a new Twist function. Full stereo I/O is also available and you can connect external footswitches or expression pedals.
