The Blackstar St. James 50/EL34H Fawn is a tube amp top with a vintage look and modern ease of use. This exceptionally lightweight amp top weighs only 6 pounds and offers 50 watts of volume. This makes it the lightest tube amp top of this wattage ever.
The two channels on the amplifier each have a separate tonal character. For example, the first channel has a character of an American amp from the 60's and perfect for use with effects pedals. Channel 2 sounds more like a British classic with a raw 'crunch' sound for rhythm playing and a boost for your solos using a footswitch.
This amplifier works in 3 modes. The standard gives 50 watts, the second 5 watts for lower volumes and the last is the Sag mode. This mode gives the amp a more vintage feel and plays wonderfully. There is also an Inductive Load present that allows you to easily play through a PC, audio interface or headphones.
Finally, the St. James has a master volume, 3-band EQ, FX loop and reverb circuit and comes with a footswitch. This can be used to switch between the two channels on the amp or to turn on the boost on channel 2. Channel 2 also has its own gain and volume knob
Also a cool addition is the Universal Power Supply that allows you to connect the amp to any power grid from 90 to 264 volts at 50 to 60 Hz.
