Who/what is Austrian Audio?
Austrian Audio is really becoming a well-known brand by now, and with good reason. Since an unnamed brand was taken over, and with it the factories in Austria had to close, some of the original designers and engineers decided to start their own brand: Austrian Audio. And with an enormous amount of knowledge in their pocket, they started building the OC818, among others. For this they modernized their old subject of the capsule a bit without compromising the authentic sound. And we at Klundert Music have to say that they have hit the nail on the head with this.
Just as good as that one....
The Austrian Audio OC818 is a professional large-diaphragm studio microphone. The capsule is based on the famous CK12 (from another -ahum- Austrian brand). The microphone has a very high sound quality and is suitable for both studio and live sound use. It is a real workhorse!
This OC818 Studio set is a complete set with various accessories, such as a shockmount, windshield, microphone clamp and mini-XLR cable (for second diaphragm output).
A unique set
The OC818 Black Dual Set Go is a unique edition of this iconic microphone. In an ultra compact package, you have exactly everything you need to achieve a great recording. Whether it's drum overheads, vocals with midside recording capability or mic'ing guitar cabinets or acoustic instruments. With a set of two, you're prepared for anything.
A real workhorse
The microphone has high sensitivity with very low inherent noise. Whispers up to extreme Sound Pressure Levels (SPL) are no problem.
The unique design of the ceramic capsule is so consistent that every OC818 match-paired with every other OC818. In cardioid mode, this microphone can also be match-paired with its smaller brother the OC18.
Another special feature of this microphone is its extremely good off-axis response. This means that the microphone sounds great even if you do not speak exactly straight into the microphone. This is a nice feature for singers who do not sing exactly straight into the microphone or in live sound situations where the microphone is not always aimed perfectly at the source.
The directional characteristic can be infinitely adjusted using the separately available OCR8 Bluetooth remote control. Thanks to the two outputs, you can also adjust the OC818's directivity afterwards. You do this by varying the balance between the two membranes. By the way, this can also be done with the free Polardesigner app.
