The Korean company Sire has made fame fast and in a short period of time. And not just because Marcus Miller linked himself to the company; Sire nailed it in terms of build and sound quality. At this pricepoint, these basses are truely impressive and just no-brainers! For those who love the traditional J and P sound, Sire will tick your boxes, but at the same time, their active instruments are just as modern as they are versatile. The design choices Sire has made (available colors, headstock shape) are just distinctive enough to be recognizable and the detailing on the instruments perfectly fine,
We are happy with the availabillity of this Sire short scale under the price of 500 EU. This is a bass for everyone; the starter who is willing to do a long term investment when you simple want to kick it off with a A+ instrument, but just as well for the advanced player who is on the look out for a above average short scale to add to the collection. The bass sounds as we expect from a short scale; bassy, lazy and woody!
In a nutshell; this 4-string bass has a 30" scale and a passive P/J pickup setup. It's body is made from American ash with a flamed maple veneer top. The bold-on maple neck has a glued-on maple fretboard with rolled edges. This feature -rounde edges of the fingerboard- is standard on all Sire's and make the necks extremely comfortable. A really cool feature on this bass is that you can mount the string either body-through or bridge-through (or go nuts and mix it up!); try it and you'll find out what it does to the sound!
There is no gigbag or case included with this bass!
